Our Story
The clever decision.
Choosing the right cutting board can be tricky. Wooden boards can't go in the dishwasher, plastic boards leave microplastics, bamboo boards can damage knives, metal boards make noise, and glass boards can ruin blades. Every option has its drawbacks, and none of them seemed truly satisfactory.
Instead of settling for the best board on the market, we set out to find the board that should have existed. After two years, 240 flights, and countless tests, we finally found it – at a small family business that shares our values.
We named it daano, a Persian word meaning "core" or "the essential." It represents our philosophy of creating products that form the core of your everyday life, designed so thoughtfully that they leave no questions unanswered.
